Do they have a sibling?

.. or a female parent?

Well, Lou, they have each other (I was referring to the Smothers Brothers in the OP). But no family members here.

Not brother, mother,

Do you want to put out the flame of desire?

Definitely not. Fan it at every opportunity.

Not brother, mother, smother,

I know it will be wrong but I'll try again.

"The __ __ __ __ __ __ with THAT is . . . . ."
(dialectal)* variant of "The TROUBLE with THAT is . . . " - - critique of a suggested m. o., etc.

*NYC dialect? or just idosyncratic difference?

#7 is that in the spirit of "Thank you sir, may I have another?"

#8 is it bother? doesn't really rhyme.

Not brother, mother, smother, another, bother,

Hint: while Crambo's word rhymes with both syllables of "other," it does not contain an o.

For the Crambo! Word to rhyme with ALL the
syllables (all TWO in this case!) is, in my experience quite something! On "bother", I was more focussed on the spelling, I admit, than on the pronunciation.
So, thanks for the hint on O-lessness.

another hint because the action has been slow... Crambo's word is a verb, and I'm confident that we've all seen it in its participial form, but maybe not in the simple present.

Given a choice, I'd _______ have my _______s.

Neither ruther nor druther.

Not brother, mother, smother, another, bother, ruther, druther

Is it an English word for winds blowing strongly?

Yes indeed. Crambo's word was wuther. Well done, Eris, and you're up!

Eris - when you've thought, PLEASE post a reply here pointing to the new thread! (Otherwise it doesn't show in my Your posts, which is how I use the LT forums :-) ). Thanks!
