My goal for 2013 will be 60 books, all acquired before the end of 2012. No categories for me, and the only restriction is that only pre Jan 1, 2013 books will count.

Woohoo Mare! I can't wait to see what you read. My goal is 60, also. We will see how well I do. Hope your boxes get there before the new year!!!!

Oooh, another thread to follow! But Bella, following your thread may just add to the list, not make any piles smaller...

Thanks fuzzi!

I have now entered all the books I anticipate arriving before the end of 2012. My TBR pile is at 153 currently, with a couple days remaining in the year. Reading my 60 books would (ideally) bring the TBR under 100 again, which has been my goal for the past couple years. We'll see how I do. Restraint will be required.

I would also like to bring my TBR under 100 again. It consistently teeters at 109 to taunt me. Although that technically means that I read as many as I acquire so I guess that's good.

Book 1: Shadows on the Gulf by Rowan Jacobsen- 4*'s

This is an area that I am not very well educated in, but am learning. Shadows on the Gulf is a very easy to read, easy to follow book that is well researched. It's very informative, and while the 2010 BP oil spill is a central component of the book, Jacobsen also talks about the Mississippi and other ecological issues facing the gulf today. I had no idea that so much of the area is disappearing over time, and so quickly. It makes me wonder what will be left for future generations.

Books 2, 3, 4, 5
Various books on Fibromyalgia. For the most part, interesting, yet not particularly informative as I have invested a lot of time in becoming knowledgeable about my illnesses. However, I enjoyed the holistic sections in Deborah Mitchell's books as they were well written and easily communicated. Overall, I didn't really learn a lot of new information, however I did make a few notes to take into the doctor next time I see her.

After reading lots last week, I got called out of town and came home with the flu, so I haven't had a chance to update my thread for a while. I'm now up to 15 on the year, which is far more than I anticipated.

I've been busy... finally completed the Effington Series by Victoria Alexander (11 books) and am ready for a break. I enjoyed the series because they could be read as stand-alones, and didn't seem to be as stuck in a plot rut as some series do.

I also finished Sun Rise, which was my iphone book for some time now.

Thanks! I'm reading faster than I thought I would. Despite a busy month at work, travel time has allowed me to pick up some more reading hours :)

Great progress to get to 22! And my eyes must be wonky because I initially read 'travel time' as 'time travel'. That would be even more useful in tacking the TBRs...

Updated for Jan 2013. Current reads will count for Feb.

So February sucked. I was away for most of the month, so I was reading new books on my iphone instead of taking ROOTS with me. (I know, I know...)

First book in March (actually started Feb 28) was The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan. I learned a lot about that time, and it makes me grateful that I did not have to live through it. Those courageous folks that did, and survived, and stuck around in the affected areas are amazing.

I've been pretty sick for the past few weeks, and have been staying at home and reading. I just did a mass update. Books read in no particular order (and depending on the fever, with various degrees of remembrance and/or understanding)...

So glad you feel better, at least I hope you do!

Updated with the reading from the last couple days. I have finished all my Susan Mallery's from before 2013. Going to see what I can find to interest me next.

23: Thanks Connie! I'm feeling much better today, finally.

It's been a tough spring. I've been sickly for much of the past two months, so I really haven't kept up with my cleaning, or updating LT. I've been randomly tossing books into a pile to be updated. I finally got started with that today, and found a bunch more that I've read this year that were not on this list. Updated, and almost to my goal.

Too bad this challenge hasn't slowed me down any buying books...
