Cause I've been listening to Miles.

The verb "__ __ __ __ __" meaning "scatter"
Onto the ground, and hence batter
the patience of any cleanup crew
I've a hunch it IS "__ __ __ __ __". True?

Let me just convince you why my answer must be correct.

I don't mean to be argumentative, but no winners yet.

Not strew, argue,

A RE __ __ __ __ can mean a show;
Or for those who've been a bit slow
In a course: another look,
Hastily at the whole sem-
-ester's work, lest some gem
Of knowledge has been missed.
Without"Re-" (__ __ __ ___) could be jist
"A way of looking at it", or not
Even a way but just an instance
Of looking; a writer of romance
Might dwell on it - -but not too long,
Lest she/he eschew action and go wrong.
My guess is monosyllabic I say with a sigh,
Though illustrated by a syllabicism that is di-

There's a two syllable word that means to work it out, but in a way I hope it's wrong.

Shit happen.

We haven't got a deja view,
So no review, or e'en revue.
And while I like brightcopy's clue,
I'm glad to say we have no poo,
Real or sham, or p'raps did you
Have some other shit in view?
Working out could be construe,
Or maybe I did misconstrue,
In any case, let me know, you.

(I had considered eschew, which Roland gave us for free, but decided to avoid it in favor of another word.)

Not strew, argue, view, review, revue, eschew, construe, misconstrue, poo, shampoo

alpha not: argue, construe, eschew, misconstrue, poo, review, revue, shampoo, strew, view

Perhaps another word might occur to you.
If not, I might have to give you another... hint.

I suspect your first word will pop up as soon as I log off;
If not I'll ask f another clue when I return.

Not strew, argue, view, review, revue, eschew, construe, misconstrue, poo, shampoo, clue

You seem to forget, Miss Flinn, that this is an institution for the insane.

I don't think anyone forgets that you have to be a bit nuts to play Crambo.

brightcopy, I haven't come up with your word for occur. Still thinking but if you want to hint further that's welcome too.

Not strew, argue, view, review, revue, eschew, construe, misconstrue, poo, shampoo, clue, cuckoo

alpha not: argue, clue, construe, cuckoo, eschew, misconstrue, poo, review, revue, shampoo, strew, view

#12 by Jim53> It often pals around with "hijinks".

14Jenni_Canuck

I see a woman may be made a fool if she had not a spirit to resist.

15Jim53
jul 29, 2013, 12:49 pm

Hmmm. The word I see with hijinks is ensue, but I always thought of that as meaning follow. I guess it could mean occur. Was ensue your word? It wasn't mine.

Not strew, argue, view, review, revue, eschew, construe, misconstrue, poo, shampoo, ensue, clue, cuckoo

alpha not: argue, clue, construe, cuckoo, ensue, eschew, misconstrue, poo, review, revue, shampoo, strew, view

hint #2: Crambo's word has fewer letters than any of the words on the not list.

16Jim53
jul 29, 2013, 12:55 pm

Well, Jenni, that's certainly true, and your source is very suggestive. Just as tree-climbing mammals have many cousins, Kate has sisters of a somewhat similar mind.

Whoops, hint #2 is not quite true: there is one word in the not list with the same number of letters as Crambo's word.

Not strew, argue, view, review, revue, eschew, construe, misconstrue, poo, shampoo, ensue, clue, cuckoo, shrew

alpha not: argue, clue, construe, cuckoo, ensue, eschew, misconstrue, poo, review, revue, shampoo, shrew, trew, view

(Ensue it is! "Following" is just "occurring afterward" ;) A new guess will now ensue.)

Show me the spot or hand me my stick - either way this is my next guess.

18Jim53
jul 29, 2013, 4:08 pm

Wow, totally puzzled again. "Show me the spot" reminds me of Lincoln not wanting to go to war with Mexico, while "hand me my stick" conjures images of bears. I'll have to cogitate a bit more.

19brightcopy
jul 29, 2013, 4:27 pm

(Probably should have phrased it differently. It's not a physical spot so much as a timing thing.)

So much fuss over one little word?

21oldstick

Is it a herb?

22Jim53
jul 30, 2013, 8:52 am

Not rue, nor any other herb. Jim has got it with "ado." Over to you, sir.

brightcopy, what was #17?

Watch this space.
