This is kind of related to the books . . . Are they ever going to make a newer version of the Flowers in the Attic movie? Or are they going to make a film sequel? I really wish they'd do one of the two!

Well, Andrew Neiderman has said they might getting a remake done:

It would be good. Surely they can pick better actors this time. Allthough Louise Fletcher was a perfect grandmother. She was the only one who got the character right.

Thanks for the link!! I had no idea they were thinking of redoing the movie. I so agree with the casting. I hope they do better this time around.

I own the Rain movie, but I wasn't too impressed with it, probably because I didn't really like the series anyway. Unfortunately, I don't have Lifetime, so I can't catch the Ruby series they're working on. :(

What I loved about Flowers in the Attic was that the suspense. When reading I also believed it would be for a few days, allthough I was revolted at the idea of putting them on an attic. When it went on and on, I was just shocked. How could a mother and grandmother do this?

I liked Cathy as a character in Flowers in the Attic, but not in Petals in the wind. It turned me of that she started an affair with Dr. Sheffield and later with Julian Marquet and Bart Winslow. I liked her again as an older mother in Seeds of Yesterday.

It also shocked me that Carrie commited suicide.

Oh, absolutely. Cathy was at her worst in Petals on the Wind. But when I read it, I was really into trashy novels then (well, I still am ;). And I liked how she did change from book to book, not remaining so one-dimensional. I think what I liked the most about Flowers in the Attic (and the whole series really) was how real and plausible it seemed, probably because it was told in the first person. I even believed as a kid that what Cathy and her siblings went through could possibly happen to somebody else. Maybe I was just gullible and overly imaginative, though. ;)

Yeah, I mean; she promised not become like her mother but she did.

Was it in this book she tortured the grandmother?

Oh, I know. And Cathy really acted like her mother in If There Be Thorns when she did the attic up like from her childhood.

Yeah, I think Petals on the Wind was where Cathy tortured the grandmother with candle wax in the hair and a whip.
