Server timeout on Recent Member-Uploaded Covers homepage module

Repeatedly, over the last several days, I've been getting errors on RMUC - it's very slow to populate all the time, and every once in a while (every couple hours? Every 30-40 minutes of use?) I get a server error filling the module instead of covers. The most recent one was 504 Server Timeout - I think I've also seen 500 errors, but not certain (I was seeing them elsewhere, not certain I saw some in RMUC). The 504 errors go away after a few seconds, or after I refresh the page - though for a while last night (in the height of the 500 errors all over the site) it would only go away if I did a Ctrl-F5 refresh (ignore the cache).

I work in RMUC a lot, getting rid of covers that don't suit my books. A lot, in bursts, I should say - I'll ignore it for a few weeks then spend a couple days clearing out the offers of newly-uploaded covers. I've been focusing on it over the past week, and increasingly seeing slowness and then the errors.

Yes. We had two periods of severe server issues. Ultimately we traced it to some pages that did too much and a new bot ("Accompany bot!") that took 100x as many pages as Google. We blocked it. Things are good again.

I haven't seen new covers in RMUC, other than when I add a new book, for months. I'd assumed it was no longer being updated, is that not the case?

I do have it set to my-ISBN, high-quality only, but previously I'd get lots of covers even with those settings, so it's useful to hear that others are still seeing new covers. Guess people just aren't uploading anything new for my books. Thanks.

I have managed to empty RMUC a few times - and then I lower quality and deal with the next lot. Ideally I'd like to get rid of all the covers that I don't want (this may be an eternal task, though).
