Same work but not being recognised as the same

I added https://www.librarything.com/work/book/209787652 the other day and did some heavy editing on the book record before and after adding it to the series https://www.librarything.com/nseries/333353/Les-Grands- Moments-Classique. Later on I scanned and uploaded the cover.

I was having some trouble with the works in the series - they're compilation albums based on themes, and I did several passes of edits before I worked out the best method to record a primary author (there isn't one, so I ended up going with the majority conductor) and list other authors (conductors, composers, orchestras and artists).

What seemed to be happening was that if I added the work to the series before hitting recalculate author/title the uploaded covers weren't going through and it seemed the version in the series was a 0-copy work, not my work even though there was a series entry showing on my version. I've managed to combine records, but the one title above is missing the tickmark in the series no matter what I do, even though it's showing as being part of the series on the main page and the series entry has me as the only member. When I add either

I seem to recall a similar issue earlier this year with missing work IDs; as you can see, the work referenced above has no work ID.

>1 Maddz: I've had that problem before when I manually add a work that no one else has cataloged. It creates two separate works, one which contains the information I entered and one which is added to my catalog. The only fix seems to be 1) combine the two (which you've already done) and 2) time

>1 Maddz: What exactly is the issue you're reporting, in summary? If it is that the Series is not listed on the work page, that's because the series you added the book to is a Publisher Series.

I am seeing the work ID both when clicking on your book's "Main page" (https://www.librarything.com/work/27456244/summary/209787652) and when hovering over the title on the series page (https://www.librarything.com/nseries/333353/Les-Grands-Moments-Classique) - it's the same work ID.

Is there something else you're having trouble with?

1. Go to my homepage, and click next on the Recently added module until you see Voyage Classique (it's currently the 1st on the 2nd page but that's likely to change later on). Hover, and you see both the work ID and book ID.

2. Open that page, and the url only displays the book ID.

3. Add work to workbench.

4. Check the series is correct - https://www.librarything.com/nseries/333353/Les-Grands-Moments-Classique (no touchstone) and click through to the series.

5. Check for a tick mark on that work - none to be seen. Open the work, and see it's not my work - but I'm the only member...

6. Add work to workbench. There's still only 1 item them - the item you added in step 3.

So, the version showing in the series is not apparently my work, even though I'm the only member with it, so doesn't show the tick mark. It can't be combined with the work I have because it already is combined as the workbench only shows 1 work.

It looks to me like the combination I did didn't complete, and it looks like it's connected to https://www.librarything.com/topic/312780#unread as I've been getting these duplicate works when adding unique CDs to my catalogue. I have another obscure music CD publisher series to add (probably after Christmas now), so I'm rather reluctant to work on it (and another in LGMC when it arrives).

Ah, I was missing your comment at #5 about the tick mark (checkmark). Got it! I will test this further next chance I get - maybe Monday the 27th, so thank you for your patience in the meantime.

Okay, finally returning back to this.

Following steps at >4 Maddz:, I'm now seeing a tickmark for Step #5 and it's the same work, even when I click on the cover from the Publisher Series page.

Whatever bug is happening here seems to be a temporary one that eventually clears up with time. Will need to keep monitoring this with living examples to see where it's getting hung up.

Thanks for your patience with this! If you have another live example crop up, please list it here. We're past the holidays, so I'll be able to test and monitor it more closely.
