In-catalog view of your tagmashed books

This is based on an idea from JoeB1934 here:

https://www.librarything.com/topic/338789

Currently, when you're viewing a tagmash it will indicate which books you have in your catalog with the standard checkmarks, but there's no way of viewing that set of books in your catalog. JoeB1934's request is to have that catalog view, to enable easy PowerEdit of that subset. This view would of course also enable us to do any sort of exploration of that catalog set which would be interesting for a number of reasons.

>1 lorax: Thank you so much for this idea. The more I think about it the more I appreciate the value of this feature. Just imagine being able to click on a name in any cloud display, or the mirror display and seeing those books in my library. The data analysis possibilities are immense for me.

I have spent months messing around with excel files which I created using cut and paste from a tagmash statement. Which, by the way I had to parse names to get rid of unnecessary blanks, etc. This was all part of my research into my 40-year reading history to determine, in my words "what books did I read and why did I like some a lot more than others?" I answered my own question to my satisfaction, but with a lot more work.

The beauty is that the 'books shared' display already offers this feature.

This is mostly a "note to self" since I'm sure none of the above will make sense to me if I look at it two (LT-)weeks from now.

Tag mash (pirates and zombies):

Books shared between lorax and bnielsen:

or

https://www.librarything.com/catalog/bnielsen&compare=lorax

So we call for something like:
https://www.librarything.com/tag/pirates,+zombies&compare=bnielsen

>1 lorax: The new tag page display just announced by Tim offers what I want if the programmers extended the feature to display the results in the library. Given that capability I could easily accomplish what took me months to arrive at in my reading journey.

>4 JoeB1934: Nothing on the tag page is new, it just looks better on smaller screens and loads faster

>5 norabelle414: I agree very much. As it is, there are two major issues that make it nearly unusable to me.

First, the checkmarks are visually important but are not sortable by Excel. More importantly, the page-by-page display makes it impossible for me to do copy and paste to get it into Excel.
In tagmash itself I can trick the display to go to 500 lines by adding a non-consequential phrase to turn it into a two-part expression.

I am just hoping(?) that they do end up placing the books into the library. Then my objections would be resolved.

Bump - still think this is a good idea.

Still a good idea.
