Was it any surprise that the Gants were the Guild and they had control over much of Utopia? Does this reinforce the idea that Amanda is on that island?

When we learned that the Gants were much more than they portrayed themselves to be...it was a surprise. I do think that Amanda is on the island.

I haven't like old Bobby Gant from the jump so no surprise here not even sure Mr. President is clean. But it does not necessarily follow that Amanda is not on the island. At this point even their operation seem to be a bit rushed so it's possible that haste has slowed them down and she's still there.

No. We knew from the previous book that the president’s family headed the Guild. The island is a nice, isolated spot, mostly owned by the Guild, it’s a good bet they’ve taken Amanda there.

I think this information confirmed that Amanda is likely to be on the island.

Yes I was surprised that the Gants were the Guild and I think that’s where Amanda must be hiding on the island.

Also as Colin has said, the President’s brother is not trustworthy. However, I do wonder how involved the president is - especially after Cranston saying that branch of the family didn’t know anything of consequence

I also think Amanda is on the island. Sounds like part of the Gant family is clueless that others in the family are the Guild. I think the Guild compartmentalizes projects…which would explain how the President is involved in the Guild but unaware of the brutal plan for his daughter.
