Did they have reason, and authority to search Winterton’s premises? What did you make of what they found?

Do unlocked doors negate the need for a search warrant?
The black robe with the terrible oder ties Winterthorne into the plot, but his age and physical condition precludes him from the attack on Jennings, unless the supernatural changes him somehow, which I doubt.

He was transported to the hospital and therefore already in his home and found the black robe that tied him to the plot.

>2 JohnDBurke: The amount of supernatural/paranormal stuff that is hinted at, Winterthorne may return as a young, dashing hottie:))

>4 Carol420: that would liven up the plot. The transformed hottie and Mrs D

I did wonder at their right to search the premises. Did they get a warrant? I don’t remember one being mentioned. Would giving a false alibi enough grounds to get one?
I wasn’t particularly surprised that they found something that could point towards a link to the robed killer, or djinn.

with all this suprnatural stuff swimming around I would not be surprised by Carol's theory.
