Hi All

I've been adding in bookcrossing books that I didn't register and no longer have in my possession - bookrings and bookrays, mostly. For a while there I was just adding them as I read them (because my LT catalogue is mostly a record of my reading, as I'm happily using those date started & date finished fields), plus the occasional one I'd read previously but really enjoyed. I use the tag "bookcrossed: released" for ones I no longer have in my possession.

(Plus library books.)

Now I'm thinking of trawling through my past bookring/ray reads and adding them in as well. I fear I am getting a bit obsessed!

Is anyone else doing that, or are you all being "pure" about only cataloguing books you actually own? Which was my initial feeling about LT, but I've obviously become terribly corrupted somewhere along the way. :)

cheers!

I'm using LT as a record of books read over the past five or so years, plus the list of my TBRs, which will eventually be read (I hope).

So yes, I'm certainly adding in rings and rays and tagging them as such. I can't see any difference between a book I've read while it was in my possession on a ring or ray, versus a book I own for a (short or long) time, then read and release somehow (rabck, vbb, ray or whatever). Or a book from the library for that matter.

If I was "pure" about only cataloguing books I actually owned I'd have a problem, as I tend to release most books one way or the other after I've read them. What would I do then - delete them from my library? I keep very few books these days as firstly I very rarely read books more than once, and secondly I don't have the space on the shelves!

But I'm far too lazy to use the date started & date finished fields I'm afraid. I just tag them by the year in which they were read.

So I guess it all depends on how you want to use your LT library. And whatever you do with it - it's very easy to get a bit obsessed!!

I have every book currently in my posession in my LT library, and any book I bring into the house for my own use gets added, be it a bookring/ray or from the local public library.

I started using LT before I registered at bookcrossing.com, so it includes every book I've released and I don't have any past history to trawl through.
