I've been using Teach Yourself Hindi, of which there are several editions containing different dialogs and excercises, but basically covering the same material.

When I was studying formally, my teacher also recommended Usha Jain's Intermediate Hindi Reader. When I was at my best, I could struggle through some of the texts, but my hope is to get back up to that level and beyond.

Anyone else have materials they find useful? (from favorite films to trusted dictionaries!) Share your best tips here.

I've currently been working through Michael C. Shapiro's The Primer of Modern Standard Hindi to learn grammar and practice the exercises and I've been using Hindi in a Flash flashcards to help build vocabulary.

One tip I have is that I use the Hindi-English Bilingual Visual Dictionary and write hindi vocabulary on sticky notes to place around the house or my office cubicle to become familiar with the hindi words of every day items.
