Well, I've been busy and all but ignored this group:-) But, it's never too early to start a new message board.

Anything going on in your neck of the woods?
Here in my area of suburban Massachusetts, we've had several very tragic murder-suicides (actually one was a murder-attempted suicide) that has shaken up the town. The media seems to want to link it to the economy but I'm not convinced.
I was in Nashua the day the prez was in town. My daughter could see snipers on the roof of the building two over from hers. We thought that unusual as he was headed to the high school on the other side of the highway. Turns out he visited a 'green' company not far from where she works. I hit the highway south just as they had blocked off all traffic over the highway and the entire northbound lane for his exit from Nashua North high school onto the highway to the Manchester airport. Clearly there is a difference between being a presidential candidate and a president when it comes to security! ;-)
I could probably mention Scott Brown here. I'm fascinated with the media spin that attributes his win to the Tea Party or Parties, when it was actually the independents who got him elected.

All busy in New England -- I don't know about everybody else, but I've been shocked at how fast the summer is going. I would have though the heat would have made the days drag, but all of a sudden it's almost August.

So, I'm having a mini-LT-meetup in London next month and I wondered what little New England thing I could bring along as a token. I wanted to avoid all the usual stuff and what with the marketplace being global anyway...
I decided on Taza Chocolate which is made in Somerville. I bought a box of the discs and will tie a couple up with some ribbon. Since it's dark chocolate, it should tolerate the trip in the carryon just fine.
I thought I'd throw that out there in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation.

I wholeheartedly support your choice. I'm friends with Alex from Taza--he comes to dinner parties with chocolate in his pocket. It's Willy Wonka-esque enough to put me in awe. You can tour Taza, you know.

>7 sonyagreen: yes, I heard that, thanks, Sonya. Must be awful to live so much closer to it than I :-) When it opened, friends from Somerville bought us some kind of sampler, so this is where and when we first learned about it. I took some with me to BEA in May as thank you gifts for some very nice publishers. It worked wonderfully.

"Is that chocolate in your pocket or am I just hypoglycemic?"

>9 dukedom_enough: ha ha! it will be in the travel bag (I'm sure there will be enough chocolate leftovers from Halloween to see you through 'till I return).
