**SPOILERS**The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

Just finished it and loved it, though as Stephenie says in the introduction, it was a shame to know how it was going to end for her. I can definitely see how reading this before seeing Eclipse could be handy and it brought up all kinds of interesting ideas.

Is anyone else reading it? Finished? Ready to discuss?

I am currently reading it haven't finished yet because I'm trying to be done with the confessions series before I see you next weekend!!

I finished it on sunday. I loved it. I thought it was a great story and I'm glad Stephanie decided to share it with us. It really adds a little something extra to eclipse. I was sad that I knew how her story would end and kept hoping she could somehow survive even though I knew it wasn't possible.

Okay, I finally got a chance to read The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. I enjoyed it, and yes, I did wish that it could have ended differently. Like the Twilight series, it is brain candy, not substantial fiction -- but I enjoy brain candy, so it's fine by me. I'm trying to remember -- does Fred show up in Breaking Dawn? If not, I foresee another novella at some point in the future.

Before I read this, I was wondering if the title was supposed to be a reference to other, similar titles -- The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber, or The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao -- it seems too similar to be entirely coincidental. I've read the former, but not the latter, so I don't know what similarities there might be. Does anyone else know? Are there structural similarities that I'm not picking up on? Or am I giving Stephenie Meyer too much credit here?

ETA: Maybe the similarity is just in the fact that the title basically spoils the story's ending.

I have seen it on the shelves but am confused at how someone who was in the books VERY briefly can have entire book on them...
help?

#5 -- She goes back and tells the story of how Bree became a vampire, and what was happening with those newly-created vampires before the battle with the Cullens.

I enjoyed it too and even though you know how will it end so that was sad I wanted Bree to make it even if we know ahead of time she doesn't.
And now I want a book about Fred!Did he make it north??I want more!

5> It seems to me that it would be easier to write about someone who is barely mentioned in some other books. The author is free to make up almost anything instead of being tightly bound to what was said before.

7 & 9: Absolutely! I reread Breaking Dawn shortly after this book and it made me wonder if Fred was a "shield" type? I seemed like he might be somewhat similar to Arro's bodyguard.
