- The Bookie is a new, independent bookshop at 123b Main Highway in Ellerslie. We carry a wide range of locally published books and international titles. Our regular trading hours are Monday - Friday 10.00am - 5.30pm and Saturday 10.00am - 1.00pm.
We specialise in popular, quality and award-winning fiction and general non-fiction including history, science, biography and autobiography, cooking and gardening with an emphasis on healthy living and green options, politics, parenting, popular culture, travel and reference. We stock Bookseller New Zealand Book Tokens as a popular gift option.
We carry a wide range of children's books and have extensive experience and knowledge in all areas of children's publishing: from board and picture books for early childhood education, junior fiction and young adult reading, gift books and non-fiction.
We can also recommend, source and supply classroom resources, reference and core texts for schools in all subject areas and are experienced in educational bookselling.
We are happy to gather books and resources for specialist courses or conferences for schools or businesses: to organise displays for school libraries, parent interviews and in-service training for schools and businesses. We can suggest and present book options for corporate gifts and staff awards.
We have a weekly storyteller appearing in-store for young children and welcome book group visits. We can work with you to suggest titles for book groups and help source book group notes and reading lists to help your discussions.
The Bookie offers a complimentary gift wrapping service and can deliver books to any required address when ordered by mail, by phone or from our website.
Our philosophy centres on offering book related reading, learning and events to our local community.
