After his life was turned upside down when he was kidnapped and experimented on, the hero escapes his imprisonment and begins the long trek home. Coming back to his home town, he finds his place is ruin. As a farmer, he never had much money anyway but now he's without any funds to survive. One night he helps the heroine with her car problems and soon begins a job at her veterinarian clinic. Zeke sort of reminded my of Clint Eastwood. Strong, silent but when we speaks pay attention because it's important. I loved his possessive nature and I loved that Neva allowed him to be himself. You really feel for what he's be out through with the experiments but he's still such a good man and deserves the love Neva gives him. I was slower to buy this SKIN book, not fascinated enough by the brief glimpse of Zeke in the prior book to rush out and buy. I regret the delay, as SKIN HEAT proved to a gripping, fascinating read. While I agree with other reviewers (about the serial killer plot being over the top), the relationship between Zeke and Neva more than made up for any plot short comings. Zeke was complex and interesting, I found the symptoms of his condition fascinating and feel Gray brought things to a happy ending without diluting the realities of Zeke's state. As for the romance, Zeke and Neva's relationship was smoking hot, and one I know I'll return to read again in the future. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

I really enjoyed this book. The hero was very different. He had been damaged as a result of being captured and experimented on and was not normal and the author didn't suddenly make him normal by the end. I really enjoyed that and how his "voice" stayed consistent throughout the story. The relationship between him and the heroine was the main thrust of the story. He was a beta hero who had loved the heroine from afar for years and spent a lot of the book thinking he wasn't good enough for her especially now that the experiments had made him very strange by adding abilities (animal like hearing and ability to understand animal thoughts) and taking away others like the ability to read and drive. I really enjoy reading about a different character not just your normal alpha guy. She wasn't as well developed but she was nice and I liked her.
The serial killer wasn't as well developed as he could have been and sometimes I would have wished for a bit more clarity there.
Very nice angsty story all around and I will read the rest of the series. ( )
