NCLA Review -Contemporary Christians who want to share their faith face a huge obstacle: a widespread negative view of Christians and churches. Unfortunately that view is too often based on bad experience. Dale and Jonalyn Fincher advise responding by being the kind of people whose witness attracts instead of repels. They stress such things as knowing where the other person is coming from—and being willing to let ideas travel both ways. Replace the “get-‘em-saved” agenda with true interest and concern. With numerous examples drawn from their own lives, the Finchers show how to transform proclamation into persuasion, to patiently woo instead of try to drag or shove people to faith. It’s difficult to see standard Christian witnessing efforts through the eyes of nonbelievers, and discomfiting to realize how off-putting, often even senseless, they come across. That honest perspective is one of the great strengths of this book, along with Finshers’ creative alternatives. It’s practical, it’s Biblical, and, tellingly, it’s written in a spirit of love and respect extended to believers and non-Christians alike. Rating: 4 —DKW ( )
