Jessie Jones is living the life--except for the fact that she earns it by working the streets. She's been under pimp Spence's thumb for fourteen years, and she isn't looking for change. That is, until undercover cop Gabe walks into her life and offers her something she's never had before: a love, a future, a home. But even if Jessie could walk away from Spence, there are darker forces of evil who want her to stay put, or worse, dead. In this romantic suspense, author Heather Huffman delivers an adventure from the vibrant streets of St. Louis to the caves of the Ozarks as Jessie discovers whether she can love another, whether she can love herself, and whether any of it is enough.… (meer)

What can I say about this book. I loved the characters but, parts just seemed so unreal. Portions of the book reminded me of Pretty Woman. I know many people say that but, you know the prostitute turned good girl who was really always a good girl meets the guy and falls in love. Only difference is the family value of Throwaway. With that being said Pretty Woman is one of my all time favorite movies so great job of Ms. Huffman portraying the good sides to the bad times. Too many people are so quick to judge others but, it felt like in this book it showed people who were really good down to earth people. I think I would have given the book 5 stars if the character development would have been more. I liked how Jessie seemed to see the good in everyone but, she could not see it in herself. Insecurity is big and it was portrayed. I wish we would have learned more about Spence and why he was a really good person in a way. A man who beats women and whores out women is not human in no regards therefore I did not like when he was portrayed as the good guy. Sorry that was just odd. This book was fun and for that I give it 3.5 stars. ( )

This was a quick reading book following the main character Jessie through her life of prostitution and associated problems. Her pimp, human trafficking, cops, mafia, etc. It was an interesting read that was slow but enjoyable at first and then very quickly jumped into crazy fast paced drama. I enjoyed the book and found it very eye opening as to the bad things that happen in this world that tend to be overlooked. ( )

Throwaway was a story about a girl named Jessie. Jessie was a very strrong, intelligent, guarded and every humorous in this enjoyable read.. One wiil be in for romance, comedy, lots of action and even tragedy I found myself not being able to put the book down until I was finished with it. The story is of how a persons life can be changed for a better on.
I believe one will find "Throwaway" a good read and I would highly recommend the book by Heather Huffman. ( )

Quick and predictable read of "bad girl gone good". Prostitute falls in love with police detective and reforms her life, but not without some trouble from her pimp and her organized crime group he is involved with. ( )
