This book is about a day in the life of a friendly bee, cleverly named Bea. Little Bea wakes up and goes to visit her friends. Everyone is happy to see her as she plays games and moves from friend to friend. The characters include: Little Bea, a butterfly, owl, goose, beaver, rabbit, bear, deer, mouse, cricket and firefly. As a read aloud, this book lets the adult make plenty of animal and bug noises. The text includes rhymes and nature sounds (like pitter-patter). Sure to please toddlers. The graphics are computer generated, but I would argue that it takes some talent to bring these characters to life in a toddlers world. The animals are cute, fuzzy and the story is happy. The background consists of sunshine, trees, hills and flowers. There is no clear message, however, the animal sounds will probably suffice to its intended audience. The bright colors and cute animals will attract youngsters. It works as a bedtime book because the Little Bea goes to bed after a busy day. A good example to read to children that EVERYONE needs to go to sleep. It would also be an attention getting book as a read aloud to preschool aged children. This book would make for a good board book and it would work in a public library or a preschool library. ( )
