Book three the in the Embroidery Mysteries series, this time a bride wants her mothers wedding dress embellished with jewels, but as usual all is not as it seems.

The characters were fun, as usual but this time the mystery kind of fell apart for me. The mystery itself was fine and engaging, I just had a much harder time accepting Marcy's role in it. Especially once the FBI became involved.
And I did enjoy the crafting elements such as embellishing purses with ribbon work and the small look into what goes into embellishing existing clothes.

Not the strongest in the series so far but still fun and worth the read and I am really, really getting tired of the love triangle. ( )

Marcy Singer, owner of the Embroidery shop in Tallulah Falls, is approached by Cassandra Wainwright about her antique wedding dress. Cassandra wants some embroidery and jewels added to areas that have yellowed. Marcy accepts the commission but is startled when the following day she is confronted by the body of he future mother-in-law outside her shop. The police inform her that the jewels she was given to attach to the dress were not fakes but worth close to $100, 000.

Worried that the jewels were the reason for the murder and that the murderer may think she has more, Marcy sets out to find the murderer.

The mystery was fun, but I wish there had been more needlework involvement. ( )

I liked this story better than the last one. Interesting plot development and great character development as well. A good series and I'm looking forward to the next one. ( )

Marcy Singer is the proud owner of The Seven-Year Stitch, an embroidery shop in the quaint town of Tallulah Falls, Oregon. Marcy has been hired by Cassandra Wainwright to embellish a wedding gown with jewels given to her by her future mother-in-law, Francesca Ortega. Not long after taking the job, Francesca is found stabbed to death outside of Marcy's shop. To complicate Marcy's life even more, her ex-fiance David, the one who stood her up at the alter, comes to town asking for a second chance.

THREAD RECKONING is the third book in Amanda Lee's An Embroidery Mystery series. I have not read the first two books, but the author made it very easy to jump right into the story without feeling lost. Marcy was a very likable character surrounded by several friends willing to help her solve the mystery. Marcy was also involved in a love triangle, in addition to her ex-fiance trying to get back into her life. I'm a big fan of romance, so I enjoyed those scenes being woven into the story. If you're crafty and into embroidery, you'll enjoy Marcy's shop talk as well. I give THREAD RECKONING 3.75 out of 5 stars!

It's February in Tallulah Falls, Oregon and love is in the air especially at Seven Year Stitch, Marcy Singer's embroidery shoppe. A bride who is getting married in less than two weeks on Valentine's Day brings in a vintage wedding gown she would like embellished for her big day. The groom's mother provides the jewels to be embroidered on the dress. Marcy is very excited and can't wait to get started on the dress. The bride gives approval to one of Marcy's designs and Marcy goes right to work.

The next morning the groom's mother is found stabbed to death in front of Marcy's store. She looked to be bringing Marcy more jewels as a small velvet bag was found near her body. Both the couple and Marcy were under the assumption that the jewels were fake but the police have the jewels Marcy had examined and find out that they are real and some are missing. This makes Marcy the prime suspect. She is going to do everything she can to find the real jewel thief and not get herself stitched up in the process.

My Thoughts
I was loving this book until the last couple of chapters. I adore these characters completely, the setting is perfect and the mystery was sharp and perfectly paced, then it felt like the author lost the needle and had to hurry and wrap the story up as fast as possible.

The bride Cassandra was a true "Bridezilla", even with her fiance's mother dying in such a horrible fashion was not going to steal her spotlight on her wedding day. Postpone the wedding, no way. You really feel the groom's pain not only dealing with is mother's death but going through it alone because his bride is so selfish.

I love this author and her books. I just felt tangled or unraveled at the ending. The epilogue ties together the loose threads but the leaves Marcy's future up in the air. I hope this is not the end of this series, it is one I really do enjoy. I hope we see a lot more Marcy and Tallulah Falls soon!!!
