It's a story about a true friendship that exists between two real live animals who live on the TIGERS (The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species)Animal Preserve in South Carolina. The photos are adorable and will have you doubling over with laughter. Now here's the kicker... the LC catalogues this book as fiction, because the story told in the book IS a fiction story. But in my storytimes, I have used it as a 'non-fiction' book because to kids, the story could have very well taken place, the actual animals are used in the photographs, and the words narrate the action in the photographs perfectly. So while it's not TECHNICALLY a non-fiction book, I believe a book like this can build appreciation for the non-fiction genre in children of all ages - even some adults. :-) Suryia the orangutan notices Roscoe, the stray dog, hanging around the animal reserve and decides to introduce herself. Then, they become best friends and Roscoe finds himself a new home in the reserve. The two eat and play together and complement one another's personalities. An interesting look at how different animals can form such a close bond! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
