Vince Dandro might be going through the quietest quarter-life crisis of all time. He lives alone, works in a comic book shop, and has a crush on his coworker he can't seem to act on. Like an old comic book, his life's colors have started to fade. Everything brightens when Vince's long-lost friend Griff appears on his doorstep in the middle of a blizzard. They were roommates in college, so close back then that Griff's girlfriend called them "lifebuddies" -- but Vince's love for Griff had ended the friendship, he thought, forever. They haven't spoken in years. Why has Griff shown up again? And, more importantly, can Vince handle his return?Vince and Griff are two twentysomethings struggling to find their places in the world and in each other's lives. This is a story of friendship and love, both unrequited and requited, and of learning how to fly through the post-college void, which just might hold more than a cranberry hush.… (meer)

On a random snow way, Vince's college roommate, Griff, to whom he hasn't spoken in years, shows up on his doorstep looking for a place to crash. Vince's quiet life is quickly turned upside down as Griff takes him on a mini-adventure and he is forced to confront the circumstances that led to him walking out of Griff's life all those years ago.

If I had to describe this in a word? Wonderful. It's one of those stories that gets you yelling at the characters in your head: "Wise up already!" And though it's not really a mystery, it was a couple unexpected twists that just seem to take everything to the right place for everyone involved. Definitely high up on my list of m/m romance recommendations. ( )

After much whining and bitching I am giving this book 4 stars (ok, maybe 3.5, but it still rounds up to 4).

The last two chapters, or about 20-15% of the book, saved it for me. Somewhat. And even though I had trouble connecting with the characters and the abundance of details doing nothing for the plot drove me crazy, the writing was too good to give this book anything less than 4 stars.

I don't find this story sad, like many say. I am upset with Vince for being stuck in the past life and past love. I am upset with him and Griff for not solving problems as they came. When my bf withdrew from me, I found his dorm, stormed the attendant's barricades and went pounding on his door, demanding the explanation. But of course not everyone is brave and awesome that way. And I am upset with both of them dragging it out for so long - years! YEARS! - and making themselves (and a few readers in the process) miserable.

I realise this book is about Vince and Griff, but something more tangible in Vince/Zane department would have been nice. "I love him" is a pretty strong statement not to elaborate on it. I am worried for Zane. Considering all Vince's exes and his "loving" nature, this relationship doesn't seem stable enough to last. IMHO. ( )

This book, and books like this, are the reason I read. It was pretty much perfect. ( )

I was thinking that this was going to be "a gay for you" story. Well it is and it isn't. It's about Vince, a bisexual man you loves his former college roommate. He would do about anything for Griff, but Griff is straight. Griff wishes that he could be gay for Vince. They are best buds and they both wish it could be more.
Then there's Zane. Zane loves Vince and Vince loves Zane. But until Vince can resolve his issues with Griff, there is a wedge between the two would be lovers.

This is a very complex story. It's not cookie cutter. It's a new and fresh take on gay for you. 4.5 stars ( )

I've only read a couple of self pubbed books, out of fear, fear of bad stories, bad editing. If books like this are what I've been missing out on, I'm going to have to hit up some more self pubbed books.

I will say that, for me, this one was bittersweet, and the review itself is hard for me to put into words. It was very well written, the story just sucked me right in, and I ended up reading just about all night. The main characters were so well written, I ended up loving them all. I spent the whole time wavering between being mad at Vince, being mad at Griff, feeling bad for Zane, and wanting everyone to just wake up and see what's standing right in front of them all!

I have to hand it to the author for NOT taking the story in the direction I was expecting. Even up to the very end, I kept waiting, and hoping, and expecting more, but when I got it, it was totally not what I expected. So now I'm sitting here, torn, because while it IS a HEA (or HFN maybe) it was NOT the HEA I was expecting in the beginning, and I haven't decided yet how I feel about it. It doesn't quite sit well in my romantic's heart, but I think it was exactly the way things should have ended, if that makes sense. ( )
