Tony is an English teacher who has the misfortune of ending up with a fellow teacher laying at his feet with a knife in him. Mac is the detective assigned to the case, who is so deep in the closet he may have hangers dangling from his ears. Closet or not it doesn't stop him from be attracted to and wanting Tony. Then Tony is targeted by the killer. Mac works extra hard pulling out all the stops to protect him while trying to solve the first murder before there is a second. The story has a lot of twists, and I didn’t figure out who the killer was until very close to the end. Tony and Mac soon learn that tomorrow is never guaranteed so if you meet the right person, just go for it. How can that be wrong? ( ) I just finished this TERRIFIC novel and bought the next two and added the fourth to my list for later. That's how good it is. The big plus? The Epilogue is NECESSARY. Loved this. Loved it. So you're aware, the Kindle edition I read has an annoying formatting flaw of two words or word-punctuation-word with no spaces, occurring one to three times per page. Luckily reading hashtags has made this kind of flaw less annoying for me, but only less. Content Warning: murder, deaths on the page, drugs found in a high school, an armed drug user, kidnapping, hostage situation, SWAT team, horror stories of what cops deal with. More probably, that's just what I recall in this moment. This is not a gentle, sweet story, except for the bits that are intensely so. Me, while listening to this book. Wow, this book is really set in MSP, isn't it. Great job, Kaje! (A few cliche locales maybe but you know, A++ stuff) -oh, but it's set in MSP, about a member of the MPD. And that is *too real* -set it aside, Sam, JF Harding is narrator. -it's really really hard to set it aside in any LE book, and I'm definitely not "sinking in" to this one, where the protagonist himself likes to remind me of the blue line. -this is like, a lot of homophobia. I mean, not to paint with a broad brush or anything. But - it was? Don't get me wrong, homophobia exists everywhere, but it was just a lot in this book. I basically went happy-sad-mad and still struggle with these LE books, not going to lie, entering into a secret relationship with a closeted member of the MPD feels like a recipe for disaster! The sexual tension was weird? Too much too fast, so not well balanced for me. But JF Harding is a delight so I still really enjoyed listening. But. I also... Didn't? Tony Hart's life has been quiet lately. He has good friends and a rewarding teaching job. Then the murdered body of another teacher falls into the elevator at his feet, and Tony's life gets a little too exciting. Jared MacLean is a homicide detective, a widowed father, and deeply in the closet. But from the moment he meets Tony's blue eyes in that high school hallway, Mac can't help wanting this man in his life. However Mac isn't the only one with his eyes on Tony. As the murderer tries to cover his tracks, Mac has to work fast or lose Tony, permanently. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
