I really love Japan and it's culture and religion.... I have not visited Japan but I have always dreamed of moving there after high school.... I got this book from my father because my family and my friends know how much I adore Japan. All of it was very interesting and amazing.. I didn't know much of Japan's history and religion until I read this book!!! Summary: This book consists of Japan's history and mythology from the religion: Shintoism... Also, it tells stories of how certain incidents occured like when a western priest sailed to Japan to teach them about Christianity. Or when Nobunaga Oda got betrayed and killed by his most trusted man in his army, Mitsuhide Akechi... Or when Nobunaga's sister Oichi left the Oda clan to go and be with her lovely husband Nagamasa Azai... Even when Nobunaga's best general Hideyoshi Hasiba left Japan to take Nobunaga's clan (this occured after Nobunaga's death and Hideyoshi took control) to China and conquer it.... Also, Nobunaga was the most sucessful Daimyo in Japan because, he conquered 1/3 of Japan in his lifetime... geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

For centuries, the Samurai dominated Japan. Although they have disappeared, their values--honor, loyalty, and bravery-continue to influence Japanese thought today. Where did these fierce warriors come from? How did they achieve such power? This engrossing history recounts the Samurai's foundation myths, the tales of princes and emperors who set the stage for the feudal system where the Samurai thrived, the battles that changed Japan's landscape and culture, and the emergence of the clans who became the Samurai's employers.
