This book would be perfect to use as a read aloud in a science classroom before going over habitats because it goes through different animals and where they live. This book has beautiful realistic illustrations, and doesn't take too long to read. I think children would enjoy flipping through the pages to interpret what they see, and where/how animals live in that habitat before reading the text. ( ) This picture book is a great way to look at animal habitats and how they interact with them. The book goes through various different environments and how different animals make homes in them. I love the simple, easy to understand, language and the beautiful illustrations. It's also a great book to connect to biodiversity and animal adaptations. Even an Octopus Needs a Home explores how animals that reside among different habitats cater to the needs of a variety of animals that reside within. Additionally, the book describes the functions and relationships among ecosystems and habitats. The book includes different environments and how the populations of animals within these environments can adapt to their ecosystems and surroundings. The book also portrays different habitual areas such as trees, dams, rivers, oceans, caves, etc. and how certain animals adapt and use the resources among these areas. Upon reading the book, the reader can notice that the paragraphs or lines are written in a flowy way rather than straight line which seems to be a more engaging read for the reader. Although it is a lengthy read, students can use this book to gain a further understanding of different habitats, ecosystems, populations, and relationships among them. This book correlated to young readers, can be used within a middle grades science content area classroom to have students observe certain habitats and how they provide resources and meet the needs for populations to thrive in. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
