Scotland's history chronologically this time with new material and some mentioned in "Desire Lines", but once more I totally enjoyed this book which can double as a travel guide. He mentions Nigel Tranter as the author who inspired him to go searching for Scottish history. I picked up my first Nigel Tranter historical novels in 1982 on my first trip to Scotland and must say I agree with this David R. Ross. Tranter was a wonderful writer as was David R.
