i chose Road Work Ahead because is one of the most colorful books I have ever read. I really enjoyed the pictures and the short sentences. This book will be good for pre-k and first graders. We can use this book while learning about community workers and signs. ( )

This is a great book to introduce different noises and sparkle words into a story. This will be great for students to have an example of incorporating many of the 5 senses into their writing to make it become more alive! This story makes a normal ride into full of adventure and excitement.

Young Reader Reaction: Even though our child is beyond books of this type, they commented about how cute the dog, or the birds, or the sleeping bunny on every spread. Looking at the pictures and reading all of the other text (road signs, business marquees) kept them turning the page.

Adult Reader Reaction: I would have loved to have had this book when my child was a toddler and preschooler. It is bright, and the illustrations have lots going on, but it isn't ornate or overwhelming. This is a fun story to sit and talk about what's happening that isn't in the story. I could even see it as a book where the kids would create their own story about what they see.

Pros: Bright, fun illustrations add a wonderful layer to the simple text of this trip to Grandma's house.
