Summary: This book talks about how many species of dinosaurs there were and how long ago were they here. It explained that the dinosaurs laid eggs and that there were carnivores, herbivores, and terrestrial dinosaurs. The book even compared some species in size to school buses. It also talked about their hunting skills. This book had a glossory on the last page which helped a lot. Personal Reaction: I loved this book. There was quite a bit of information that I didn't know. I also loved the little side note questions that were on every page. This book is a must have in your collection. Classroom Extention Ideas: 1) Ask the class to draw different types of dinosaurs and color them the color that they imagine them to be. 2) Find out more research on different species. 3) Compare the weight and height of the dinosaurs to ordinary objects such as cars, houses, etc. 4) Have the class make dinosaur shaped cookies. Summary: This book has information about the many different dinosaurs that roamed the earth many years ago. along with the information it has question that you could read to the children/students. My view: I really liked this book mostly due to the fact that it has question to get the children thinking. Personal Reaction: I loved how there were questions on each page relating to present day, keeping the child engaged. It also had pronunciations and definitions, which was very helpful.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1) Have the students come up with their own idea on what happened to the dinosaurs.
2) Compare/contrast animals today vs. animals during dinosaur times. ( )
