Fiction. Romance. Historical Fiction. HTML:

ANNA â?? In love with a woman he had only seen once and could not find, the Highlander, Kevin MacGreagor was growing older and needed a wife to give him sons. No other woman pleased him, not even the daughters of other lairds, so he finally settled for Anna sight unseen. But when his men went to meet her guard, she was all alone and badly beaten. Who could have done such a thing and why? ~

RACHEL â?? had a dark secret and even she didn't know what it was. She was seventeen, determined to become as good a warrior as any Highlander, and was firmly against taking a husband. Connor had other ideas. He loved Rachel and when a rival clan took her, he thought he would lose his mind. How would he ever get her back and if he did, would her dark secret separate them forever?

CHARLET â?? The King of England asked the Highlander, Kevin MacGreagor, to hide a baby girl and save her life. But sixteen years later, someone discovered where she was. To Blair Cameron fell the duty of hiding and protecting Charlet. It was not an easy task. She was furious, head-strong and determined to run from him. Could Blair keep her alive? And if he did, could he keep himself from falling in love with… (meer)

For teens, seems written by a teen
Simplistic, highly unrealistic, not a serious engaging story. Strong highlanders, always referred to as lads, not men, who treat women with kid gloves and never fight; a 17- year-old bride, kept a prisoner by her father, has never been around children (or flowers) but is always polite and knows games and has a magnificent horse; a two-day trip between the highlands and England; and finally a highlander who was kicked out of his clan and became an English baron with powerful connections to the king? Even the abuse of the women was unreal. ( )

The stories (3 of them) were good. However, the author just gave just enough to get by. No fluff, nothing. Also at times I'd felt like parts were being skipped, leaving me wondering what was going on. And I disliked how the stories ended so abrubtly - but that ties in with the "no fluff" part. That said, I liked the characters and wish they'd had there own full stories. Not sure I am going to read the next ones. I was going to but was disappointed when I found out that the next was another set of 3 stories in one book... I have a feeling it will be more of the same... perhaps if I found a full length story by this author I will try it out. ( )

A series of three short stories about young women and the men that fight for them and love them. I liked the story lines, but became a little confused of how quickly the time gaps were and then to be confused again when actually it was only a couple of years. Main characters had died and no explanation was given, so I was a little taken a back. All in all, good, clean romance. ( )

This is really three novellas in one book. It tells the stories of Anna, Rachel, and Charlet, but they're all intertwined to continue the story of the Highlanders. Anna is, by far, the best of the three segments. I enjoyed reading how Kevin first saw Anna not really knowing who she was and just lost his heart to her. Anna comes from a very abusive background--her father beats her, torments her, and does unspeakable things to her to get his way. After being brutally beaten almost to the point of death, she is brought to Kevin. The clansmen are shocked by the bloody mess, the filth, and the scars. They know someone wanted her dead and it's terribly offensive to attack a bride, let alone the clansleader's future wife. They are determined to get to the bottom of this. The best part is just knowing that Anna eventually comes to realize that not all men are as horrible as the one who made her life a living nightmare. She loves Kevin. He loves her. And it's a marriage that they can both enjoy.

I'm not trying to put down Rachel or Charlet, but I felt that their stories didn't quite measure up completely to the caliber of Anna's story, but they're still worth the read. ( )
