Wikipedia: "The Bates method is an ineffective and potentially dangerous alternative therapy aimed at improving eyesight. Eye-care physician William Horatio Bates (1860–1931) held the erroneous belief that the extraocular muscles effected changes in focus and that "mental strain" caused abnormal action of these muscles; hence he believed that relieving such "strain" would cure defective vision." geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
A updated edition of the book detailing the Bates method, a technique for correcting poor eyesight through exercise. The rationale behind the Bates method is that if you wear glasses or contact lenses, the chances are that you don't really need to. Prescription lenses act as a prop for the eye muscles so over time the eyes actually get weaker. In the long term, glasses will only ever weaken the eyes. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
