( ) First time reading Ms. Barbosa though I follow her on Twitter. I don't usually read erotic fiction (or erotic nonfiction for that matter, if such a creature exists) because the bit I have read was execrable. Seeing how witty and articulate Ms. Barbosa is on Twitter, seeing it for my favorite price of free I decided why not. I enjoyed it. It is sweet. Sex is front and center due to the length and really hot due to that whole erotic thing, but it was well written and physically possible, unlike the other erotic stories I have read. It is ***short***. The posting on GR says 108 pages. As I read this during a wait for a mammogram of less than 20 minutes and then a rare early morning read of about 10 minutes, actual story is probably around 60 pages. The rest is personal info, book lists, excerpts from other writing. So don't be looking for more than there is. Well written, just saw a couple of typos/misused words so I wasn't taken out the story nor did I feel compelled to roll my eyes at situations more than once or twice. The whole premise of a young woman with this kind of freedom at that time and place in history with no repercussions in her life as a lady was kind of hard to believe, but exotic nonfiction it is not so, again, I wasn't taken out of the story. **I keep saying it was free, but I honestly can't remember for sure. I may have seen it for 99 cents and grabbed it due to curiosity about well written erotic shorts. First time reading Ms. Barbosa though I follow her on Twitter. There aren't a whole lot of authors that write on the spicier side of romance that I like all that much. Jackie Barbosa is a rare exception for me. She takes the time to develop her characters, her plot, and overall adding a depth to the story that's more than just sex. I read the teaser to The Lesson Plan at the end of another e-book a few months ago, and I've been waiting its release and the chance to read it ever since. I love the characters of Freddie (Winifred) and Con (Conrad). I like that Freddie remains the same strong woman throughout the story and I like the fact that their sexual interactions show a more complete picture of them as individuals and lovers helping complete their characters. To me, that is what makes a great romance no matter the spice level or the length. Without revealing any spoilers, I can also appreciate Con's inner battle in regards to his relationship with Freddie as both a historical male and as part of his conservative nature. The Lesson Plan was a great read and I highly recommend it if you like spicier reads 4.5 out of 5 stars! I can't wait to read more Jackie Barbosa. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

This ebook consists of THE LESSON PLAN, a 22,500 word novella and excerpts from two related short stories, GRACE UNDER FIRE and TAKING LIBERTIES. THE LESSON PLAN is the first novella in the Lords of Lancashire trilogy. The first three chapters of HOT UNDER THE COLLAR, the secord Lords of Lancashire novella, is included at the end of this volume.COVER COPY:Despite her imminent debut, Miss Winifred Langston has no interest in trying on expensive ball gowns, learning intricate dance steps, or perfecting the one piece she can play on the pianoforte. Freddie would rather don a pair of breeches and go target shooting, fishing, or horseback riding—astride—than be anywhere near a ballroom or high tea. Rather than waste the last few days of her freedom on such pursuits, she invites her two closest friends to join her in one final caper. When Lord Conrad Pearce learns of Freddie's plans, he decides it's past time to teach his younger brother's partner-in-crime a well-deserved lesson. But when he intercepts her, disguised as a highwayman, to demonstrate how dangerous and ill-advised her stunts are, he can't resist the sensual beauty hidden beneath the maddening tomboy's exterior. What began as one sort of lesson becomes quite another, as Conrad embarks on a comprehensive erotic tutorial of his surprisingly enthusiastic and adept student. Now, he only has to convince the irrepressible Freddie to trade her breeches and madcap ways for the gowns and domesticity she despises.
