This is a very good how-to manual. It is clearly written and everything is laid out in an easy-to-understand fashion. Definitely a must-have if you are thinking about starting a seller's account on Etsy. The only major note that I have about the contents is that they can probably be found in the FAQ section of Etsy, but this book would probably be much easier to read. I have an ARC and noticed a couple of places where there were blank pages. I don't know if that happens in the final version of the book, but if it does, it should probably be fixed. Also, I understand the purpose of having the real-life examples of Etsy stores in there, but I kinda saw it as just free publicity. Just a personal preference though. ( )

My initial impression of this book was somewhat mixed. It was full of solid common sense, but did not convey anything surprising or revolutionary.

However, my opinion changed the moment I decided that I might try opening my own Etsy store. Suddenly, the level of detail and step-by-step instruction became a blessing rather than a distraction.

This book is not for pleasure reading. It is a road map, and an excellent one, for helping you turn your hobby into a business. That means not only exploring the Etsy website and its interface, something that I did not really need help with, but also logistical issues, customer service issues, and legal ramifications, which I definitely did.

If you are interested in opening an Etsy store, then don't allow the common sense advice that you already know distract you. Treat it like a checklist, a way of making sure that there is nothing you're leaving out, and keep an open mind. You might discover some gems of advice that will keep you from learning the hard way. Do you want to sell handmade items, vintage items or crafting supplies? This book will walk you thru the process step-by-step. This book will answer any questions you may have and some you aren't sure you need to ask.

This book has a tremendous amount of information in it. And even interviews from real sellers. It's really easy to read and understand (even for a novice like me) and will take away any fear you may have for starting your own shop. It even tells you how to spot scams and proper set up for payments.

I highly recommend this book for anyone thinking about using Etsy or even someone who has already set one up and can use it for reference later on. I think this book is a must read for anyone wanting to sell their homemade items. ( )
