Using rhyme and photography, this book helps children learn addition. While there is no narrative, the use of rhyme helps make addition interesting, a little silly in places, and works as a mnemonic. Text is large and in a contrasting color to the background. The book is illustrated through the use of photographs of various objects in the correct numbers. Mostly the objects that are used are innocuous like figurines of cats and dogs, though there are several different photographs of joyful monsters which children will find delightful rather than scary. There is also a preview section for subtraction on the last two pages. Children in grades K-3 who are resisting addition will find this to be a useful book. Recommended. "Bright photographs of puppets, marbles, chicks, dogs, and other fun objects, a rhyming text, and a fun game help children learn to add. This book teaches children how to connect numbers with a value and introduces them to mathematical equations."--Amazon.com. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
