One of my favorite things is his manipulation of actual history, superstitions, symbolism, and ceremonies. I could have done without all the drama from Alex and I hated that Niall and Blackbird argued most of the book because I love them together... but, life's not perfect. Overall, I loved this book. My favorite book in this series has definitely been book 2, The Road to Bedlam. Anxiously waiting to start book 4!!! ( ) I think of this as The Alex Book. Early on in book 1 Alex is described as a typical teenager, with great moodiness. That's dangerous now that she's manifested her powers and been through terrible tortures that left her with PTSD. But, oh, do I love her. She's a horrid brat, honestly, but she's so honest a character I could read about her all day. Blackbird regained much of what I felt she'd lost, so that was good, and ended up with even much more by the end. Alex made good, and Dogstar was... well. Apparently I'm not so much reading for him as I am for his lady and his daughter. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Alex has been saved from the fate that awaited her in Bedlam, but in freeing her, Niall has released others of their kind into the population - half-breed fey who have been mistreated, abused and tortured by the institution that was supposed to help them. Now, as Warder, he must find them and persuade them to swap their new-found liberty for security in the courts - but is the price of sanctuary to swap one cage for another?
