I watched the movie version of this a few years ago - a funny story where a Roman man time-travels to modern Japan via hot springs. The manga lives up to expectations, although the vocabulary and kanji are still a little above my level at this point. Good art, and good historical research by the author. She writes mini-essays between each chapter, which I kind of skimmed but were interesting tidbits about Roman culture and modern Italy, and the difference with Japan.

Very interested to see that (only) the English version of this book censors the penis on the cover. Come on, guys, we can do better than this. ( )

This scores lots of points just for treating a completely ridiculous premise with respect and care. ( )

本屋で表紙を見て気になっていましたが、先日購入し、ようやく読み始めました。

読み終えてから表紙をみたところ、タオルと桶を持っているんですね。

浴場設計技術である古代ローマ人が現代の日本にタイムスリップし、日本の入浴事情を知見し、古代ローマに戻って再現するというお話。お風呂好きにとっては最高のマンガではないでしょうか。

古代ローマのお風呂事情を学べるのも良かったですが、一番驚いたのはトイレの方。テレビで古代ローマの頃のトイレの跡を見ましたが、使い方は今の洋式トイレと同じですが、問題は用を足した後。まさかこのようにお尻を拭いていたとは思いませんでした。ハイヒールなどのことも含めて考えると、上下水道を造る文明はあっても衛生面についてはあまり考えてなかったのかな。お風呂うんぬんよりも、そっちの方が問題ありのような気が。

主人公が３年間お風呂造りで家を空けている間に妻は離縁状を置いて家をでてしまった。お風呂で仲直りができるのか！？ ( )
