What I really about this series so far is that these are intelligent YA books that don’t treat the reader like kids.
Another of my favorite things is that the protagonists don’t seem to be perfect – Danny is seen to struggle with doubts concerning his girlfriend and realizes that if he cheats on her, he will be responsible for the consequences.
Breyona,on the other hand, is learning that good intentions aren’t enough to make wise decisions when it comes to power.
Shiv realizes that while acquisition of knowledge is a good thing, the path chosen to acquire it is very important.
The books are about teenagers who must find their own path while dealing with issues much bigger than them.
However, this book won’t be as effective, if read without reading the first one.
