The Castle has been acting strange lately, adding more rooms (and not taking any away) and making more changes, just as Celie thought she'd completed her atlas. When Wizard Arkwright appears - instead of Wizard Levin, who was supposed to come help Bran - both Rolf and Celie are suspicious, but Celie has her hands full with a griffin egg she has discovered and hatched, and now has to hide. Bran and Pogue learn about Rufus, as Celie calls him, but the Castle seems determined that Celie should keep him a secret from everyone else, even as griffins seem to be an important part of the Castle's past.

*Spoiler alert*
A great upheaval in the Castle sends Celie, Rufus, Rolf, Pogue, Lilah, and Lulath in two separate towers out of Sleyne and into the Glorious Arkower, where none of them have ever been. Something of a cliffhanger! On to Thursdays... ( )

If you don't like cliffhangers, don't read this book.

The book ends at a point that I would consider to be the middle of the story, and reading the sequel(s?) will be absolutely necessary to understand what happened.

While I enjoy the world of Castle Glower, I'm very disappointed that Jessica Day George gave us no satisfactory conclusion to this book. ( )

Disappointing compared to book one. And OMG, the cliffhanger ending!!

If I'd known, I would have waited till the next book was out. ( )

I seem to remember reading a book at one point where the author advised other authors to give main characters names that didn't start with the same letter, that had the same length, or letters that look the same to a speed reader (such as P, R, or B).
Also, the main characters are merely reactionary figures to events that happen around them.
And they don't really grow. Laura Ingalls Wilder did in all of her books and she started out at a younger age.
And, It's really all my fault because I keep telling myself that this one will be better than the last book. And it's not. It's not bad. But it's not literature. And while it doesn't really have anything bad to teach my (fictional) 10-year old. It doesn't help them to grow and learn. ( )
