Yet that very joy can wound the heart of those who are denied the precious gift of parenthood. Mary Mealyea longed to be a mother, just like her friends. But she came tosee that genuine understanding was scarce, and honest talk nearly impossible. More than that, she faced a long series of medical hurdles, fraught with ethical decisions and challenges that would put a strain on her relationship with her husband, and with her God. Mary (known to her friends as Ray) shares her story to allow others to understand the trauma of infertility.
