This is a great start for a children's series. It is very much like the Little House books and other colonial based books. I like the fact that it is written from a child's perspective of the Amish life. This book tells the story of a little Amish girl who fills her days with adventure, smile and great childish things that make for a wonderfully simple life filled with God's presence.

This is a great book for you pre-teen or upper elementary. My daughter is in the 6th grade and really enjoyed it.

Thanks to Revell for this review copy. ( )

What a joy it was to read this book. I savored it and made it last...trying not to read it all in one sitting. Each day as I walked my Grandson's to the bus...they are ages 5 and 7, I told them about the previous days story. They started begging for more, and could sure relate to Lily and her brothers.
This is the story of a little girl Lily Lapp, and her life in an Amish family. We travel with her and her extended family, her Amish community, her school life, and her home life. We meet a lot of interesting people, some friends, and others??
The book reminds me of one of my favorites...Grandma's Attic Series by Arleta Richardson and the Little House on the Prairie series. I am so glad that now there are more wonderful stories to share with the boys, and I can't wait for the next book in the series. This is one of those books, that linger years after you read it, a very small number of books make it to this level in my mind.

I received this book through Litfuse Book Tours, and was not required to give a positive review. ( )

Life with Lily is a welcome addition to children's books. Joining the Amish genre the writing and book itself is very similar to the Little House books with each chapter being a story all in itself. The book is about Lily who is a cute little 6 year old who in the first chapter welcomes a new little brother, another chapter is about a barn raising, her brother decides he wants to learn to fly - right off the chicken coop, and so on.

I personally think it's wonderful to have a new series of books for kids. It's always nice for kids to learn about new customs and the way others live. That it takes place in modern day America makes it even more interesting and that Lily is a kid just like them will peak your kid's interest.

This is a great book to read aloud at bedtime, in the car and if you have kids around 8 who are ready to read on their owns this would be a great book to start with. The Adventures of Lily is going to be a series, Lily has her own website (http://adventuresoflilylapp.com/) complete with games, coloring pages, recipes, crafts, contests & giveaways & your kids can even write Lily & ask her about growing up Amish.
