In my opinion, the book “Universe: Journey into Deep Space” is a great older children’s book to get students interested into space and the universe. This nonfiction book is organized and engaging because it provides a table of contents and references section. It provides accurate information through the use of data figures, maps, a glossary/index, and tables. The author provides facts that are interesting and that also relate to our world. For example, “Not all starts are like our hot, yellow sun.” I think the best part about this book is the amazing illustrations. The pictures the author provided are of different beautiful parts of our universe. They are outstanding and very interesting to look at because they make the reader want to learn more. These images would catch the eye of young and old students. The big idea of this book is to provide students with amazing pictures and facts about our universe. Very nice eye appealing satellite and illustated images of scenes in space from our moon and beyond on each page. Brief and easy to understand desriptions are given for each one. The author does a wonderful job at describing scenes in space that would, generally speaking, go beyond the realm of human imagination had it not been for some of the satellite images in this book. The illustrated images, such as the planet with 2 stars and the gas storms on Triton, are demonstrated beautifully. My son was interested in this book when I read it to him. In a lesson on space, this book could be introduced along with many other books in relation to the topic to the class. Each group would be expected to compare and contrast other similar books via white board and discusses it in front of the class. This book was organized good because it started with the very first thing one would encounter if travelling out to space, and each subsequent planet. The author does bounce around a little with his presentation of the moons and stars, but it is still an easy book to understand. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

In my personal opinion, I found this book very educational, and I learned a lot from it. My favorite part was learning about the gigantic blackhole because just thinking about it was very frightening. My least favorite part was about Mars; I don't find Mars very fascinating. Overall, this book did teach me a lot about space, and more about our universe. I would recommend this book to kids who are intrigued in space and like to study astronomy. To conclude, I found it as a learning experience about everything not just in the Milky Way, but way beyond our galaxy. (
