Great period genre piece by the geniuses behind the H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast, with a genre bending choice of protagonist. An action packed, visually engaging read. ( )

I'm not an expert on graphic novels by any stretch of the imagination. I remember the good old days when they were called 'comic books' and I went on adventures with Little Lulu and Archie & Jughead. Comics these days are quite a bit darker.

This story is straight out of Lovecraft, with all the requisite horror and creepiness. The main characters, a ragtag group of musicians fleeing from a mobster, are so much fun that the right amount of humor balances out the terrible things that occur. I hope there will be more on the Deadbeats. ( )
