Shift is the prequel to the events in Wool, the first in the Silo trilogy, and while it does fill in a lot of the background that was conspicuously absent from the first book, overall it raises more questions than it answers. If you’ve already read Wool I'd say your options are to consider it to be a stand-alone (from the author’s notes I take it that was his original intent) or commit to reading all three. That’s assuming the last book pulls the story together better than this one did and answers the larger questions it introduced. When the important bits of information and story connection came along, they were satisfying, but OMG GET AND EDITOR! It took forever to get to the points and there was just too much repetition, explanation and pointless detail and the story just grinds to a halt all the time. Was so tired when I finished this that I don't even want to get on to the next one. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
