When a young man visits a psychiatrist, it becomes difficult to tell what is the truth and what is a lie. The play is a breezy look at lying, but the impact is diminished by poor characterizations (stereotypical psychiatrist that doesn't speak like any known psychiatrist), half told stories, and a poorly delineated plot. It starts out reasonably well, but loses steam quickly. The author clearly wants to work up a sense of something sinister and mysterious, but he misses the boat by simply not writing anything but the beginnings of casual hints. He seems to want it to be both interesting and important; it is neither. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Juliana Smythe is a psychiatrist who specializes in treating walk-ins rather than referrals. One day a mysterious young man comes into her office to be treated for impotence and a tendency toward compulsive lying. The analyst becomes hooked on the case and she cures him to the point where he actually stops lying and falls in love with her. Or does he? Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
