This is a short Ellie Foreman mystery. In fact , it could easily be argued
that this short piece is too short to assess Hellman's writings. If you
are not familiar with her work, I suggest you turn to one of her full
length Ellie Foreman mysteries, which contain tremendous historical
detail and fully flesh out the characters. This story is probably nothing
special if you haven't read the series. If you are a fan of Libby Fischer
Hellman, you will enjoy this short teaser. In it, Ellie is a divorced video
producer who lives on the north shore in Chicago with her teenage
daughter. Ellie finds her aerobic instructor's body in a closet at the
gym. After the police get involved, Ellie helps solve the crime. It is
contemporary mystery fiction, not hardboiled and not noirish. It lacks
the grittiness and violence of many crime thrillers. However, it is
without question well written. The interesting part of this story ( as the
author's blurb points out) is two of her characters, Ellie Foreman and
Det Georgia Davis meet for the first time. If you have not done so
already, invest in one of the full length Ellie Foreman books, you won't
be disappointed. ( )

I really enjoyed this short story. I liked the characters and the mystery. It was fun to read how Ellie and Georgia met. Enjoy ( )
