I thoroughly enjoyed this new twist to a paranormal murder mystery. Henri Abbey is a psychic with a few extra twists to his ability. Recently retired from the Paranormal Crime Unit or PCU in Orlando, he now runs an occult bookstore and works as a consultant to the PCU and other individuals. Henri is called upon by the very powerful witch, Virva, to find her missing assistant, Micah but is side tracked when his friend Jarrod calls him in on a PCU murder case. Henri arrives at the crime scene only to find three dead bodies and Virva's assistant who is an unusual golem. Pleasant sparks fly between Micah and Henri and the two fall into the case together and soon into bed. I liked the way that Ms Amaya used all manner of paranormal beings in this interesting and well thought out short story. I have high hopes for the next book in the series which is supposed to be longer. I liked that a non-human with secrets and a human with secrets of his own fit together so well as lovers. Both Henri and Micah are very likable and the mysterious Virva is a very interesting character who I hope will put in a visit in the next book. The story kept my attention and read easily but with a few editing flaws. The only real disappointing part of the story was that it ended so quickly. Any paranormal fan will love this intriguing murder mystery. ( )
