Maybe I'm just overwhelmed by Rylant's fantasies of a perfectly wholesome world, but I just don't think this is one of her most valuable works. ( )

This is a lyrical, peaceful book reminding the reader that despite the difficulties we may face, life continues, and nature holds the bounty of goodness. ( )

This simple poem was okay, though not my favorite work by Cynthia Rylant. It works as a lullaby I suppose. ( )

I loved the text herein and all that's keeping this one from a fifth star is the illustrations. They didn't quite work for me. I liked all of them save the ones with people in, those were somehow jarring to me. The text, however, made even this old crank feel a little hopeful about the year that is to come. Peaches! Ice cream! Stars! Birds! Yes! ( )

This is a story about things that happen all the time in nature, the stars shining, the flowers blooming and the sun shining.
