I have been tired of vampire books recently, but I couldn’t put this one down. Both books in the series are rather short, almost serial length. My only complaint was that I wanted more. The ending of this one left me shaking my head going, “Oh holy shit! I did NOT see that coming!” Now, I cannot wait to read the next one. All I know is she needs to come on with it so I can figure out what the hell is going on with Rider. ( ) I have been tired of vampire books recently, but I couldn’t put this one down. Blood and Sacrifice is the follow-up to Love and Blood (Blood Ties) in the Blood Ties series by Jessica Gibson. If you haven't read the previous books, I do suggest you begin with Blood Lust (Blood Ties) or Love and Blood. There's a lot of back story there, which helps to understand the world painted in this series. With that said, this story follows Bronwyn and Ronan as they sift through the aftermath and attempt to find a balance between their lives as a couple and running the inherited line of vampires. She finds herself whisked away, and molding into something she isn't. When Rider shows back up, she questions what her decision has done not only to herself, but also to him. Deep down she knows she loves Ronan, but can he truly ever love her the way she deserves to be loved? I read these books out of sequence, so my warning still stands to begin at the beginning. After reading Blood and Sacrifice, I knew I had to read the first two in the series. Being familiar with Jessica Gibson's style, it aimed to please as a lazy day read. Her pacing keeps you in the now, only back peddling when necessary, and always moving forward with the story and character development. The words come alive, and you sense as if you're there with her characters. These are my favorite types of reads. Her characters are enjoyable, though I sometimes wonder what Bronwyn sees in Ronan. He's likeable too, don't get me wrong, but I have this sense of protecting her from heartache, so nobody would ever be good enough for her. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
