This is the most emotional impactful of the chronicles that i have read so far. In particular the description of the devastation at the fall of Troy. In typical fashion, the author swerves and offers up a comedic episode to relieve some of the tension. The end is a little confusing, I need to move on to the next book.
Running to escape the Greeks in the Battle for Troy and the French peasants in Agincourt, this third book in the time-traveling series is as full of adventures and rollicking laughs as ever. And an extraordinary poignant scene caps it off in the Cretaceous. The deux ex machina at the end left me liking this book much less than the previous two. It seems the author was writing a trilogy and then changed her mind. It’s just a little too convenient. So book 4 better be a doozy! Still another fantastic wild ride! ( )
When I was a kid, my Dad used to say that he could tell when I had something that was bothering me because I would be reading 2 or 3 books at a time. Fast forward XX number of years and you can tell when I really like a book series when I download #4 in a series as soon as finish #3 in a series. I finished "A Second Chance" at lunch. It is now almost dinner time and I've downloaded the next book! I'm going to have to replace the battery in my Kindle and it's all the fault of The Chronicles of St. Mary's!
I won't bore you with a synopsis of the book. Others do a better job of that than I would. I'll just say that these books are thoroughly entertaining. They have action, humor, a little romance, time travel, and hairpin plot twists and turns. If that's the kind of book you like, you will enjoy these books! ( )
