Book starts out with a story about a 15 year old girl. She's got quite the knowledge of how to do things in the 1980's to make her life easier.
Many thefts, impersonating others, multiple SSNs, passports and lots of cc's she is able to talk herself out of a psych ward and she travels the world. Remember this is in the 80's!
Liked the parts about the travel and where she ended up and how she was able to even accomplish the thefts, always blaming it on others.
Based on a true story. Lots of drugs, stealing while growing up and at times going to college.
Other works by the author are highlighted at the end along with links to excerpts of one other novel.

Holy Cow! I devoured this book in one sitting. A 15-year old girl runs away, dons a cocktail dress, a fur coat, and an English accent, and proceeds to cause mayhem in the legal system and underworld, both. A riveting account of the power of innocence and curiosity. ( )

This book is about a 15 year old girl who ran away from her home in Tennessee. Some of her escapades seem to be exaggerated or even untrue but she has documents, newspaper articles that verify these events. interesting book. ( )

Amazon sent me a list of cheap suggestions and I fancied a quick read and this appealed to me. Glad I purchased it.

A fast and light read and quite a story - preposterous one is tempted to assume, however, the protagonist, exists and newspaper articles can be referred to for authenticity. While I'd love to meet this woman I'm sure glad I never knew her. Eccentric, whacky?

Anyway, a romp through her days of fooling everyone with assumed identities. Parts of the book are quite funny. Her explanation of being in Mexico and looking for help asking "hablo ingles" is hilarious as she's asking "do I speak English"! ( )
