It's straight forward, with a nice bit of history for the mystery (which is a nice change) and the return of Aunt Jane (actually being married and happy, yay!).

Not much to say. It's one of the better ones. I enjoyed it.

Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny are spending the summer in an enormous New England farmhouse. There's an old woodshed near the house that holds a surprising secret - a secret that dates from the Revolutionary War.

After Grandpa Alden buys back his childhood farm for his sister to live on, the boxcar children move in with their great aunt for the summer. They soon discover a mystery: everyone thinks there's something not-right about their farm, but no one can say what. Someone's been living in the woodshed, but the children haven't spotted him or her. Their great-aunt's former sweetheart who ran away after setting fire with an old gun seems to be involved, but no one is exactly certain what happened. It's up to the boxcar children to solve the mystery and discover some secret hideouts. ( )
