Luara Erickson uses birds as a figurative "canary in a coal mine" to examine the larger world. So although many of the ways to help birds include obivous issues like ways to prevent bird strikes againsts picture windows and cleaning feeding tubes to prevent mold, she also discusses how changes in migration patterns and bird populations reflect climate change and other environmental concerns.

Laura is Science Editor at Cornell University Ornithology Center and know what she is talking about. She does not talk down to the reader nor preach, but sets the facts in front of you. Some of the tips are easy to implement, some not so easy, but you can take it one step at a time. (
